About the space
For Traveling Nurses: During this time of COVID-19, my sweet cottage can be your respite in Seattle. It is a space that just feels sweet and calm - where your shoulders automatically relax a bit upon crossing the threshold. It's been designed, furnished and equipped to be nurturing and comfortable. This is my primary home, however, I travel often.
For Non-nursing Guests: Though the cottage is primarily advertised for traveling nurses, the cottage has also been home to visiting neighborhood grandparents, interns, digital nomads and local neighbors needing a respite while their own homes are undergoing renovation or repairs. All are welcome.
Read here for a flavor of a pre-COVID stay in the cottage:
Built in 1905—one of the oldest houses in North Beacon Hill—this cherished 2BR, 1BA charmer welcomes up to four guests to a relaxed city sanctuary. The light rail is just three blocks away and, from there, it's a quick jaunt to downtown Seattle and SeaTac Airport.
You get private access to the entire upstairs of the cottage, including the delightful front porch. A long-term tenant occupies a MIL unit in the basement, which has its own separate entrance and living space.
My idea of the perfect Seattle day at the cottage: Choose from the light morning snacks (starter supply provided) or prep pancakes in the much-loved kitchen—it’s the reason I bought this place!—while listening to birdsong through the sunny skylight. Take your coffee/tea (starter supply also provided!) and a book from the stocked library to the front porch. Then catch the light rail, just a three-block walk away, right into the heart of downtown. Eat dinner in the city, or come back to Beacon Hill to try one our neighborhood favorites, like Bar del Corso or Homer. Then head home and crash with a movie in the den or the living room with a book, before hitting the hay in one of two comfortable bedrooms—one queen and one double.
I carefully chose all the details at the cottage to banish the “stranger in a strange land” feeling. I want guests to feel instantly relaxed, like they’ve decamped to the home of a close friend, no matter how long their journey took to get here.
Mi cottage es su cottage! All spaces, including the front porch, are all yours. There is a permanent tenant occupying the MIL suite in the basement, who shares the front gate, but otherwise tenant access is totally separate.
