This old house has been newly renovated by two French & American architects. It is a simple, Arts & Crafts house built in 1946, filled with a hodgepodge of furniture inherited left and right, custom drapery and bedding. A blend of old and new (brand new central air conditioning and heating, all new appliances), it is a quirky, happy house, with its original wood floors and windows.
There is an entry/sunroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms, and a tiny back yard where you can dine al fresco, or read in a chaise longue.
1-month, 3-month, 6-month, 9-month, or 12-month lease. Also available month-to-month.
Overlooking the Notre Dame Seminary, the two-story house is on the corner of Fig and Fern Streets. The street is filled with potholes the size of moon craters, not unlike the rest of historic New Orleans. You may catch kids playing basketball on the street, and hear loud music playing from cars going by. It's a lively, mixed neighborhood, where everyone greets each other, with a " 'Mornin !", "AwRight", or "How ya doin'?"
One of the best restaurants in town is two blocks down :"College Inn", as is world famous "Rock-n'-Bowl". Save-a-Lot supermarket is two blocks over, and Robért's market (DELICIOUS prepared meals, boiled crawfish, superb beef cuts) five blocks down Carrollton.
There is plenty of parking on both streets along the house. The Seminary has a lighted lot (private) that keeps Fig Street bright and safe at night.
Our front and back yards are a work in progress : you'll probably catch us digging and planting.
