For a quick hike or overnight camping trip, head to this pet-friendly state park located within city limits. Visitors and their dogs can hike, mountain bike, swim, and fish. The park is named after the waterfalls created from Onion Creek flowing over limestone outcroppings.

McKinney Falls State Park

This museum offers exhibits about the history of the state. Galleries illustrate events including the fall of the Alamo, beginning of oil fields, exploration of the Rio Grande, and the space race. Visitors can also read stories from Texas residents and contribute their own experiences.

Bullock Texas State History Museum

This natural pool in Zilker Park is the perfect place to cool off on hot days. The pool is fed by underground springs, so it's not chlorinated and at a constant 68°F. Even on sunny summer days, there's plenty of room to swim since the pool covers three acres.
